My nephew bought this game where you play an agent of a secret agency that was activated after a cataclysm in New York City. He let me try to play it. Running through the streets of NYC was so far just like in a regular shooter video game. After reaching a certain level I was told to try the so called Dark Zone. An extra area of the map where you fight with and against other players for better loot and higher DZ levels. So I tried the DZ. After accomplishing some missions against NPCs and gathering „contaminated“ loot I had to get to the extracting area where a helicopter would fly out the special loot. I arrived with my backpack full of legendary loot, called the chopper and was waiting with another random guy to have my loot extracted.
HE ACTUALLY DID IT
Just as I wanted to plug the loot to the rope that came down the chopper that little son of a bitch who was waiting with me killed me. It is not the first online game I play but for some reasons it was a very unpleasant moment. That guy was not my enemy by team or mission or whatever (like in CoD). He was just another player who decided to go full bitch and kill me for my loot. The big issue that arose is that most of those other players who act dastardly are kids of not more than 14 years. That and surely other games teach those kids to be cruel, perfidious and honorless. Kids don’t play outside, hardly read and do not have real friendships anymore. The only thing they do is come home from school and play those video games.
I would lie if I told I am against games. But games that teach to neglect everything a good human should stand for are to raise a next generation of brutal people without principles. People who only see their own profit.
Cheers
Max
